Sudden Sensrineural Hearing Loss



It is defined as hearing loss that develops over a period of hours or a few days.

 Mostly Unilateral.
 It may be partial or complete deafness.
 It may be associated with Tinnitus and Vertigo.

Causes due to viral infection.
 Vascular Causes.
 Exposure to loud noise.
 Drugs / Medicines.

Investigation:
 Proper history record to find out the cause.
Audiometry
Blood Test
Brain Evoked Response Audiometry.
MRI Brain

Treatment :
Systemic Steroid injection over 3 days from the main instay of treatment.

Vasodilators.
Intratympanic Steroid injections.
Vitamin B12 Supplements.
